M8 App Not Working After Lollipop Update
Problem: I received a software update this week and several installed apps no longer work. Specifically Night owl light. Device info is as follows: model 831c, Software version: 4.20.651.10, Android version: 5.0.1, Hardware version 0005, Build version: 4.20.651.10c1476182, Release keys: 1422278960. Can you help us?
Solution: There have been several reports of apps not working right after the Lollipop update. The most common reason why this is happening is compatibility issues. The apps have been designed to work well with KitKat but not on Lollipop.
What you should do is uninstall the affected apps and install a new copy from the Google Play Store. This ensures that you get the latest version available.
If the issue persists then you may have to contact the app developer regarding the problem so they can come up with a fix.
M8 Constantly Beeping
Problem: Hello. My HTC one m8 juz started beeping on its own and wont stop. I check every setting thinking that maybe alarm or calendar reminders are on but that wasn’t the case. I tried to reboot it but still wont stop, it’s really annoying please help.
Solution: If you’ve already checked all settings and your phone is still beeping then this may be caused by a third party app. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode.
- Press and hold the Power key.
- On the screen, touch and hold Power off under Phone Options.
- When the ‘Reboot to safe mode’ message appears, tap RESTART.
- When the phone restarts it will be in safe mode.
Observe if the beeping sound still occurs. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what that app is and either change its settings or uninstall it.
M8 Shows Error When Manually Updating
Problem: I have a htc m8 harman version but when i click on software update it shows error which asks me to send an error report . I am on android kitkat 4.4.3 please help.
Solution: This error may be caused by corrupt data in your phone. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone then do a software update.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Down key.
- Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
- Continue holding the Volume Down.
- Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
- Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
- Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
- The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
- Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
- Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
- Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
- Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
- Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.
If the issue persists then back up your phone data and do a factory reset.
- Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
- Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
- Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
M8 Headphone Jack Not Recognizing Headphones
Problem: Hello, My HTC is driving me crazy. The problem is that is doesn’t always recognise that my phones are plugged in and will continue playing through the front speakers. When it is playing through my headphones the slightest movement in my pocket will make the application stop playing the audio and i have to constantly go in and out my pocket to press play. I done a factory reset on my phone about one month ago, should I try this again, what do you think the problem could be?
Solution: Try using a different pair of headphones on your phone and see if the issue persists. If it does then check the audio jack for any signs of debris or dirt. If you spot any then clean it using a toothpick.
Before performing another factory reset try to start your phone in Safe Mode to eliminate the possibility that a third party app is causing the problem.
- Press and hold the Power key.
- On the screen, touch and hold Power off under Phone Options.

M8 “Android support during live events is limited” Error
Problem: I have the HTC M8 and I listen to a live conference through the phone with a browser. It as am listening to it via the internet of my computer. Well on Friday there were updates to the phone and apps. On Monday I couldn’t go on, so I uninstall the apps and install them again and was finally able to go on. Wednesday I couldn’t get on. It said this: Android support during live events is limited.” What does this mean? I’ve listen before and had no issues, but now I can’t listen. I’m using Flash Fox or FireFox. What going? Can you please tell me.
Solution: Try to verify first if this is not a connection related issue. You should try connecting to another Wi-Fi source or try to enable you mobile data connection and see if the issue persists.
If the issue still persists then try wiping the cache partition of your phone as this may be caused by some form of corrupt temporary data.

M8 Not Receiving Text Messages
Problem: So, I’ve got an HTC m8 and updated to lollipop, which I’ve since had to factory reset twice now. The first time due to not getting notification sounds. The factory reset had worked. The second time was due to not receiving sms messages. However, the factory reset didn’t seem to help. I can send messages out which are received but I’m not receiving any. Just wondering if there’s something else I could try or if I should get in touch with my service provider. Any info could help. Thanks.
Solution: In cases where you are not receiving text messages the best thing to do is to restart your phone. This resets your phone connection to the network.
If the issue persists then try to check if this occurs in one specific area or if it occurs in different areas. There may be signal related issues in your area right now which might be causing the problem. If this is the case then try to contact your carrier regarding this.
You should also try inserting another SIM in your phone and see if the issue occurs with the new SIM. If it doesn’t then you may have to replace your SIM with a new one.
M8 Randomly Rebooting
Problem: Hi, I own the htc one m8 and my services provider is at&t. My phone will keep restarting itself after about a minute of use and will not factory restart itself. Solution: If your phone keeps on rebooting and you can’t perform a factory reset then this may already be a hardware related problem. You should consider bringing your phone to an authorized service center for checking and repair.
M8 Main Mic Test Failed
Problem: Hi, I just activated my new htc one m8 last week and during calls, the other person cannot hear me unless I use speaker phone. I did the audio hardware test and my mic #1 or main mic failed. How do I fix this? Thanks
Solution: your phone may already have a defective microphone. Since this is a new phone and still covered with the warranty you can have it replaced or repaired.
M8 Can’t Open Media Files
Problem: Hi, I’ve recently being taking a lot of photos and videos on my phone. I have a 125gb external memory card. My photos and videos have been set to be stored there. Since yesterday any picture I have taken using my phone camera cannot be viewed, and any video I have taken comes up with a message stating: media file not supported. Can you please help me. I don’t know how to solve the issue.
Solution: You will need to determine first if this is a phone or SD card related issue.
Try changing the setting of your camera to save the photos and videos on the internal storage of your phone instead of the microSD. Take a couple of photos and record a video (around 2 minutes in length). Try opening the photos and the video. If you can open the files then the issue may be with the microSD card. If you can’t open the photos or videos then you should try wiping the cache partition of your phone.

M8 Not Charging
Problem: Hi, I bought an HTC one M8 last September in Dubai and it was working pretty well. however, in beginning 2015, it started to reboot without warning at times. The lollipop upgrade came about last week and it seemed to work well. however, i did not charge my battery and the smart phone switched off due to lack of power. when I tried to charge the battery with my HTC charger, it would not take any charge and i am finding myself unable to use it now. i tried to reboot is by using the volume and power buttons but nothing happened. Is there anything else i can do or should I bring the phone back to Dubai, which is not my home country! Many thanks.
Solution: You should try using a different wall charger and leave it charging for at least 30 minutes. Try turning on your phone, if it does then your charger may be faulty.
M8 No Option For Manual Update
Problem: I’ve been using my HTC m8 for over two months now, and in its settings there is no option for software update at all. I’ve checked over and over to be sure and there is no slot for software update. And I’ve been stuck with the 4.4.2 version. There is no option that says software update, where I can manually check for an update.
Solution: If the software update setting is not available then you can still perform a manual update by using the HTC Sync Manager. Install the HTC Sync Manager in your computer.
- Connect your phone to your computer. If your phone has an available update, a notification displays.
- Click Upgrade.
- On the Software Upgrade Assistant page, select your phone from the list, and then click Upgrade. Your computer downloads the update. After the download is completed, the software update process starts immediately.
- Note: A message appears when the update has been completed. Click Close to return to HTC Sync Manager.
